This is an easy solution to make a scutching knife from left over wood and an old handle of a file. In this case the wood piece of the blade was pre-cut to 15 centimetres, then the squared edges were slightly rounded with a file and sanding paper. A screw was drilled into the blade to be able to attach the handle. The handle was glued with hot glue onto the screw.
Use dense wood for the blade, as any splinters elevating from the surface will catch fibres and give you a hard time scutching.
